From an early age, I was fascinated by Eastern culture, lifestyles and bodywork. I began studying Yoga in my teens and I first encountered Shiatsu when I travelled through Asia in my twenties.
Fascinated by its positive effects on my health and wellbeing, I started to study both Western and Eastern approaches to bodywork. After many years of clinical practice, study and teaching, I have developed my own approach to manual therapy: the Shinzui Bodywork Method.
With the aim of deepening my understanding, I spent 5 years investigating and translating the ‘Ampuku Zukai’ and the ‘Anma Tebiki’, two classical texts at the core of Japanese bodywork. My book, ‘Ampuku – Abdominal Acupressure’ was published in November 2020.
I live in Fukuoka, in southern Japan, and share my practice with my wife Hiroko. Our school, the Shinzui Bodywork International Institute www.shinzui-bodywork.com , is also based there. We welcome students from Japan and overseas - to share our lifelong passion for health and
wellbeing. |
